Using the answers

Calling om

Call om by phone or ask it in chat. It answers what it knows, confirms the rest with the people who own it, and calls you back.

Leaders call om by phone. Everyone else asks it in chat: in AppThentic, Slack or Microsoft Teams. Either way, om answers from Organization Memory, and when it is not sure, it asks the right people before it answers.

A call, start to finish

Rohan, the CEO, has a board demo in two hours.

TimeWhat happens
09:12Rohan calls om: “Where are we on the new payouts flow, and what accuracy are we at?” om answers what it already knows: payouts is in testing, 14 of 16 tasks done, last accuracy run 91.4% on Friday. A fix went in since, so it promises to confirm with Priya and Arjun and call back.
09:13om reads the payouts board and the release branch.
09:15om calls Priya S., Payments lead. She confirms Thursday, and names one risk: payouts above ₹50,000 still go to manual review.
09:18om calls Arjun K., QA lead. He confirms today’s accuracy run: 94.2%.
09:21om calls Rohan back: “Confirmed. Payouts ships Thursday. Accuracy is 94.2% on today’s run. One risk for the demo: payouts above ₹50,000 still go to manual review.”

Nine minutes. Two people answered one question each. Rohan chased nobody.

What om says on the first call

  • What it knows, with where it came from: the board, the branch, an approved rule.
  • What it is not sure of, said plainly, and whom it is asking.
  • That it calls back once the answer is confirmed.

om does not round a stale number into a current one. If the last run predates a fix, it says so.

Who om calls

The people who own the answer. om picks them from the rules, tickets and work involved: Payments for the release date, QA for the accuracy run. Each person gets one short question about their part, with the context of who is asking and why.

The call back

The confirmed answer names who confirmed each part. What each person said is recorded with their name and the time, as stated by them. If what they said changes a rule or its reason, om writes it up and they approve it, like any other answer. See Owners and approvals.

Who hears what

A call gets the same checks as every other answer. om only says what the caller may see, and only asks owners what it needs for that answer. Admins assign who sees what. See Access and audit trail.

Every call is in the audit trail: who called, what om answered, whom it called, and what they said.

Turning calling on

An admin enables calling for named people. Everyone with access can ask om in chat.

See Asking AppThentic for what an answer contains.
