Finding the owner
How AppThentic works out who decided a rule, and follows answers to the person who actually knows.
The person who typed a rule is rarely the person who decided it. AppThentic looks for the decision-maker.
Signals
- Who wrote, reviewed and approved the change that introduced the rule.
- Who last changed it, and why.
- Who is named in the ticket or thread that requested it.
- Who owns the area in your team structure, when you provide it.
These give a likely owner and a confidence. Low confidence means AppThentic asks “who decided this?” before it asks “why?”.
Following the answer
When the person asked did not make the decision, their answer is still useful. “Not me. It’s from the partner agreement, so Legal knows” does three things:
- It records that the rule comes from the partner agreement.
- It records that this person is not the owner.
- It sends the next question to Legal.
AppThentic keeps following until it reaches someone who can answer, or records the rule as Unknown with every step taken.
When ownership is wrong
Anyone asked can say “not mine” and name someone else. Area leads can reassign ownership directly. Every change of owner is recorded with who made it and when.
